Planning an event on Town of Osoyoos property? A Special Event Permit is required for events with an expected attendance of more than 50 people.
When to Apply
Applications must be submitted at least two weeks before your event, but applying earlier is strongly recommended to allow sufficient time for review and approvals.
Applications can be completed online or submitted in person. Paper copies are available at the Sonora Community Centre.
What You'll Need to Submit:
In addition to the application form, you may be required to provide:
- Proof of liability insurance with a minimum coverage of $2 million (per occurence), naming the Town of Osoyoos as an additional insured
- Additional insurance coverage (up to $5 million) if required based on the nature of the event
- Any required permits or certificates, such as:
- Liquor licences
- Temporary food service permits
- Application fees, rental fees, and damage deposits, if applicable
Approval Process
Once your application is approved and all fees have been paid, you will receive a Letter of Approval.
Any additional fees must be paid at least one week before the event.
Approved permits must be posted at the event site during the event.
If your event requires a park or facility to be closed to the public, Town staff will provide signage that must be displayed and returned after the event.
Damage Deposits
Damage deposits are fully refundable provided that:
- Parks and green spaces are left in good condition
- Any municipal equipment is returned undamaged
- No additional Town staff time is required for cleanup or repairs
Please refer to the Park Use and Special Event Fee Schedule for current application, rental, and deposit fees.
Exceptions
Weddings organized through Watermark Beach Resort that require the park space in front of the resort may apply using a Park Use Permit instead of a Special Event Permit.
