The Town’s noise regulations are in place to help maintain a peaceful and respectful community for residents and businesses. Residents must not create or allow noise that disturbs the quiet, comfort, or enjoyment of others nearby.
Examples of prohibited noise include:
- Loud music, stereos, radios, or amplified sound that disturbs neighbours
- Excessive noise from animals or birds
- Fighting or other disturbances in public places
- Motorized lawn and garden equipment operating before 8:00am or after 9:00pm
- Construction, demolition, excavation, or similar work:
- Monday to Saturday: only permitted between 7:00am and 8:00pm
- Sunday: only permitted between 8:00am and 8:00pm
Certain activities are exempt from the noise regulations, including:
- Emergency vehicles and emergency repair work
- Snow removal and essential public works
- Farm operations
- Highway maintenance and Ministry of Transportation work
- Lawful parades and public events approved by permit
- Standard residential equipment such as air conditioners, pool pumps, and hot tubs operating normally and in good working condition
- Normal operations in commercial and industrial areas where noise is typical for that activity and meets accepted standards
